This “high-art in a club environment” makes fine art and professional theatre accessible to a diverse audience, while encouraging parade celebrants to explore the mission and experience the mingling of glitter and grit. The season of gayness is both challenged and refined with this elegant and lavish ode to the opulence and mystery of the freak-show. Combining the style, fashion, and design of local performance and visual artists, The Bearded Lady’s Trans March Freakshow provides the perfect mixed environment for flirtation, art, entertainment, fashion, and sexy frolic for all of the Bay Area’s queer and slyly twisted folk. The BEARDED LADY’S TRANS MARCH FREAKSHOW will feature a complete environment, designed to engage all the senses, including fire-eating, sword swallowing, and the Glory Hole for the Ear, a new millennium alternative to a kissing booth, where you stick your ear to the hole and get a brain infused with naughty talk, sexy whispers, and unspeakables spoken. This mesmerizing cabaret brought to you by the producer of A Dyke March After Affair (2008/2009), Perverse Cabaret, Disco Thanksgiving, Holiday Round-Up, and Femme Follies, and co-producer of CounterPULSE’s Frolic! (2006 & 2008) showcases flashy burlesque flesh, delicious Queen and King Drag, performance art, dj dancing, digital projection and installation art. The mixed line-up and fabulous participants are thoughtfully brought together by Amelia Mae Paradise to ensure all of the bay area’s queer/trans women, men, and friends are creatively engaged, thoughtfully provoked, and thoroughly entertained in this avant garde urban revolution. You may have seen her on any number of stages in the Bay Area in the past 8 years, including The Great American Music Hall, Bimbo's, The Palace of Fine Arts, The Victoria Theater, SomArts, ODC, Great America, and The Berkeley Reparatory Theatre. Or maybe you saw her on a random street breaking into a fully choreographed Fosse inspired improvisation when the moment was right and the pavement just moist. She has produced and appeared in events for The National Center for Lesbian Rights, The National Queer Arts Festival, CounterPULSE, and Jon Sims Center for the Arts. She is featured in the recently printed Femme of Power, from Ulrika Dahl & Del la Grace Volcano, and has just returned from a whirlwind European performance tour of London, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Upsalla, Berlin, Zurich, and Helsinki. Mrs. Paradise lives in Oakland with her very own bearded-lady, Sarah Paradise aka Sir Loin Strip.
