National Kiss In Action

So there has been lots of attention to gay marriage these days. It has put Queer peoples in the fore front on Media attention. This has come up with good results for visability and there have been the other side of the coin as well. 2 gay men in Utah handcuffed and harassed for kissing. Fort Worth Texas people in a gay bar are beaten relentlessly by police placing one man in a coma. Stories of gay and lesbian couples attacked and harassed by people and law enforcement in states across the country just for showing affection to a person of the same gender. The straight world however can kiss it up as often and as publicly as they want. This is NOT just in other places! Brett (my partner) and I were removed from a bar on Geary and Hyde for kissing a few years ago and also removed from the Fillmore during a Faint and Ladytron concert for being gay and just holding hands! It is even here in the safe haven of SF. So a group has formed in Boston, Ny, La , and other cities around the US that has come up with the idea of a national kiss in. Queers kissing each other, holding each other and sharing the joy of being gay right out in public. This shows no matter what they take from us, or beat us, or discourage us that GAY and Lesbian and Tranny love is here and you can't wish it away. In SF we plan on also having a drag contingent sining songs with the word kiss or by the band Kiss or anything to do with kissing. This is all to take place in Union Square on Saturday August 15th at 11 am. This is the same time that the other cities will be kissing as well. It is imperative to keep up visibility at this time and to be part of something on a national level is very important as you all know by now! I have always stated that until we have NATIONAL recognition we are second class citizens who can help pay for unjust wars but can't be safe legally in that same country we help support and nourish. So start spreading the word! Start getting your lips in shape! Join us for a national day of GAY and Lesbian and Trans love across the USA! Our voice and our love can not be stopped by laws, hate, injustice , or killing us as a people.Because we are magic and will be around as long as there are people on this planet.
