We all need each other but we also need our straight brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends to be out in force with us tonight! __________________________ Today's California Supreme Court Decision to uphold Proposition 8 is devastating. How clear it has become to all of us that we are not only fighting for our rights but for our very existence. LGBTQIA people from all over the WORLD have been watching us here in California. It is not just a blow to us who live here but to everyone who watches California as a leader in the LGBTQIA community. We must rally not only our spirits but the spirits of a global community. We must understand that we are fighting for more than just California, we are fighting for all of us everywhere. I support all the protests that have been organized today in San Francisco. But I live in the East Bay. I live in a place that was inundated with Yes on Prop 8 folks days before the vote. I know there are many of us (LGBTQIA) in the East Bay and now, today is the time for us to be SEEN AND HEARD. Although we live mere miles away from the San Francisco, our experience here is so much different. yet, we live here in great numbers. Our allies are many and our families (blood or chosen) span a wide berth across cities and states. We must stand in solidarity with our San Franciscan brothers and sisters, but we must stand on the ground were we live. Because each of us whether we live in Fresno, Sacramento, Bakersfield etc. is gonna have to stand on our own soil to repeal this crime against our community. I believe that we can do it.
